Controversial
(This piece is culled from the book THE MESSAGE THAT WORKS by TL Osborn. Page 300)
Paul told us to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim 6:12). This is our only fight – the faith-fight. It means that we are to fight to believe what God says despite voices, imaginations, messages, circumstances, concepts, information or any other thing, actual or illusory, that contradicts His Word.
John says: this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4). Faith in what? Faith in what God's Word says – faith in the victory of Christ over all the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).
To fight the good fight of faith does not mean to imagine evil spirits beleaguering or harassing Christians so they must do battle against those spirits as pagans do. That would disclaim or discredit Christ's victory.
